Examination of the collaboration between preschool teachers and school administrators

The aim of this study is to examine the collaborations between teacher and principal working in preschool. The research is in qualitative study method, phenomenology design. In the study, "maximum diversity" sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used to determine the study group. A total of 30 participants, 20 teachers and 10 principals, were included in the study. The data in the study were collected with a semi-structured interview form. Content analysis method was used to analyse the data. In order to ensure the validity of the research, the interview questions were formulated in accordance with the subject to be measured, the interviews were conducted as a conversation with the participants and the interview periods were kept long. As a result of the research, the factors that make collaborations important in the answers about the importance of collaborations were divided into two themes as "individual" and " administrative " factors. The views of principals and teachers on the necessity of collaboration were also grouped under two themes as "individual" and "administrative", and "success", "motivation", "effective management", "positive culture" were the most frequently expressed concepts in these themes. The views of the participants on the positive results of principal-teacher collaboration were also divided into themes as "individual" and "administrative", and accordingly, while the concept of "trust" attracted attention, the concept of "mistrust" was the most prominent among the results that would arise in the absence of collaboration. In addition, the concepts of "happiness", "efficiency", "communication", "positive culture" and "support" come to the forefront in the positive results of collaboration. The lack of teacher-principal collaboration was divided into two different themes as "cultural" and "psychological", and as a result, the concepts of "problem", "conflict", "negative climate", "reluctance", "anxiety", "unhappiness" and "failure" were the most common concepts after the concept of "insecurity".
