Abstract (EN)

Purpose of this research is to determine the opinions of preschool teachers about using songs in the educational process. It is based on the basic qualitative research method due to the adoption of an inductive approach. The study group, determined by easily accessible sampling method, consists of 20 preschool teachers working in official independent kindergartens and official kindergartens classrooms in Ortahisar district of Trabzon in Türkiye. The data collection tools are the Semi-Structured Interview Form and Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher. Face-to-face and telephone interviews were conducted with the teachers who constitute the study group. The data obtained from the Semi-Structured Interview Form were analyzed with inductive basic qualitative analysis in line with the research questions. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that preschool teachers use songs to support activities in the education process, in classroom management and to support learning, that they pay attention to the characteristics of the lyrics, their appeal and visual features when choosing songs, that the types of songs they use differ according to their tempo and target audience, that they use different methods and techniques outside and during the activity time and that they use electronic sound sources and accompaniment tools.
