Abstract (EN)

In this research the aim is to determine the problem solving skills of pre-school teachers and their teaching attitudes as well as to examine the relationship between the problem solving skills of pre-school teachers and their teaching attitudes.The research is a study with screening model. The 96 pre-school teachers who have been on duty in the academic year of 2008-2009 at primary schools and preschools at the province center of Uşak have formed the working group of the study.In obtaining the data of the research, the ?Personal Information Form? prepared by the researcher, in measuring the problem solving skills of the teachers, the ?Problem Solving Inventory PSI? developed by Heppner and Peterson and adapted to Turkish by Şahin and Şahin (1993) and in determining their teaching attitudes, the ?Teaching Attidues Scale for Preschools Teachers? developed by Bilgin (1996) have been used.In the analysis of the data, for (unrelated) independent samples t-Test, variance analysis with single factor (One- Way Anova) and Pearson Correlation Coefficient have been used.As a result of the research a significant difference in the problem solving skills of preschool teachers has not been noted in respect to their age, education, professional seniority, type of school of employment, title in the institution, age group of students taught to, the number of students in the class.In the teaching attidues of pre-school teachers a significant difference has not been noted according to the variables of age, education, professional seniority, type of school of employment, title in the institution, age group of students taught to, the number of students in the class.When the relation between the problem solving skills of pre-school teachers and their teaching attitudes was looked into, it was found that while the problem solving skills of preschool teachers having a democratic attitude were high, the problem solving skills of teachers who had an undermining attitude were low.Keywords: Problem solving, attidues, teaching attidues.
