Examining the attitudes of secondary school students who participate in and do not participate in school sports towards sports

This study was conducted to expand the attitudes of middle school students who participate in and do not participate in school sports. Focusing on evaluating the sections on the attitudes of middle school students towards sports in terms of gender, class level, family income level and not participating in school sports with a license, this study was conducted according to the relational screening model used by taking into account the ratios between the variables. The main lines of the research include what those who can see in middle schools in Çorum province know in the 2023-2024 academic year. The principles of the research consist of a total of 310 middle school students who were reached by simple random manual method from the universe. The data of the research was collected by the survey method. The applied survey consists of two sections including Personal Information Form (KBF) and Attitude Towards Sports Scale (SYTÖ). Data analysis was carried out in the research using good analysis methods. For this, SPSS 27 statistics program was used. The descriptive frequency analysis of the relevant introductory participants and the attitude scores towards sports were determined by descriptive (descriptive) statistics methods such as arithmetic mean and standard deviation. The chi-square test was used to meet the demographic data of the student groups who participated and did not participate in school sports. The results of the study revealed that there were significant diseases between the attitudes of middle school students who participated and did not participate in school sports. The attitudes of those who participated in school sports, their interest in sports, their living with sports and their active sports activities were significantly stronger than those who did not participate. This situation shows that the positive attitudes of young people towards sports and their interest in sports can be strengthened. On the other hand, it was determined that the attitudes towards sports did not show a significant difference according to gender, class level and family income level. Considering the results, it is very important to encourage participation in school sports in order to increase the interest in sports and to examine the positive attitudes of middle school members and all young people in general. In addition, programs and activities for sports should be diversified, appealing to the different interest intensities of young people and thus attracting a wider audience.
