Investigation of mental skills and techniques of secondary school students participating in school sports: The case of Bitlis

This work; This study was conducted to examine the mental training skills and techniques of secondary school students participating in school sports according to some variables. General screening model was used in the study. A total of 610 secondary school students with an average age of 15.76±1.12 years (436 males and 174 females) participating in school sports in Bitlis participated in the study. Demographic Information Form and Mental Training Inventory in Sports (SZAE) were used as data collection tools in the study. SPSS package program was used in data analysis. Independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance (Anova) were used for normally distributed data. According to the study findings, no significant difference was found between the groups in terms of age, type of sport and frequency of weekly training in all sub-dimensions and total scale (p>0.05). Significant differences were found in the total and all sub-dimensions of the scale in the variables of mental training and family income (p<0.05). Significant differences were determined in the total scale scores and some sub-dimensions in the variables of gender, year of participation in school sports, club license and high school type. As a result, it has been determined that the mental training skills and techniques of secondary school students participating in school sports differ in terms of some variables.
