The effect of favoritism attitutes and behaviours of school's administrators on school success

This research, the aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the preference attitudes and behaviours of school administrators and the effective school. The research was conducted using the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods and techniques. The research sample consists of 427 teachers working at the official secondary school level in the central district of Duzce province in the 2022-2023 academic year. In order to collect data on the perception level of teachers regarding the preference attitudes and behaviours of school administrators, the "Scale of Favouritism in School Administration" developed by Erdem and Meriç (2012) was used. In order to collect data on teachers' effective school perception levels, the "Effective School Scale (ETS)" developed by Abdurrezzak and Uğurlu (2019) was used. According to the findings, it was seen that teachers' favouritism perception levels were at a very low level. While there was a significant difference in the teachers' perception of favouritism according to the variables of gender and seniority, no significant difference was found according to the variables of age, working time at the current school, being a member of the same union with the school administrator. It has been determined that teachers' effective school perception levels are above the average. It was determined that the teachers' effective school perception levels did not show a significant difference according to the variables of gender, age, working time at the current school, being a member of the same union with the school administrator, and years of seniority. According to the perceptions of the teachers, there is a significant, moderate and negative relationship between the favouring attitudes and behaviours of school administrators and the effective school. According to another finding, it was concluded that teachers' perceptions of school administrators' favouritism and behaviours predicted the effective school perception level at a moderate level. Within the framework of the findings obtained, various suggestions were made to practitioners and researchers.
