The relationship between school leadership style and physical education teachers' burnout levels (example of Bursa)

The aim of this study is to reveal the leadership styles of school administrators from the perspectives of physical education and sports teachers, and to examine the relationship between the leadership behaviors of school administrators and the burnout levels of physical education teachers. The sample of the study consists of 468 physical education teachers working in Bursa in the 2020-2021 academic year. Personal information form, burnout scale and leadership style behavior scale were used to collect data in the study. The analysis of the data was evaluated in the SPSS 25 program and worked with a 95% confidence level. In line with the findings, it was found that school administrators displayed the most interactional leadership and then transformational and liberating leadership behaviors, respectively. However, it was determined that the burnout levels of physical education teachers were low. In addition, in this study, where burnout levels were investigated according to many variables such as the demographic information of teachers and the type of school they work, it was concluded that the liberal leadership style increased the burnout level, while the interactionist and transformational leadership style decreased the burnout levels.
