Opinions of school administrators and teachers on educational management in distance education process

The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of school administrators and teachers about education management in the distance education process and to make suggestions for the improvement of education management in the distance education process. The research was carried out with the phenomenology design, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The study group of the research consists of 5 school administrators and 10 teachers. Research data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. The data obtained through interviews were analyzed by content analysis method. Within the codes obtained from the research data, the effect of distance education on learning processes, grading process in distance education, teacher competencies in distance education, positive aspects of distance education, negative aspects of distance education, suggestions to make distance education more efficient, Opinions on the practices of the Ministry of National Education in distance education. The findings were interpreted through the determined codes, sub-themes and themes by quoting the answers of the participants. In the findings of the study, it was seen that school administrators and teachers had difficulties in education management at the beginning of the distance education process. The reasons for this difficulty were the lack of materials, the problem of adaptation to the new method, the inadequacy of the technological infrastructure and the inability of the students to actively participate in the lessons. Although it is stated that some of these problems have been resolved in the following processes, it has been stated that distance education has shortcomings compared to face-to-face education. Suggestions were made for an effective and efficient management of distance education. In terms of education management, it has been concluded that distance education can be used as a compensatory education in crisis situations and as a supporter of face-to-face education at other times, but distance education cannot be as effective as face-to-face education.
