Özet (EN)

The general aim and objective of this study is to investigate the effects of chaotic and positivist. administrational understanding of school managers on the level of the organizational commitment of themselves and the teachers. The universe of this study which has a descriptive quality in a relational screening model was composed of school managers, teachers who worked in kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools in 2011-2012 educational years in Şanlıurfa. The sampling used for the teachers and school managers was layering. Within this framework, teachers and school managers were contacted in order to apply questionaires. Questionaires were filled by 1047 teachers and administrators and then they were analized. After the application of calculational means and modes, data obtained were analized and interpreted by SSPS for Windows by the aid of such parameters as frequency, mean scores, arithmetic scores, standard deviation and t-test for independent sampling and Mann Whitney -U when the variances were not homogenous, unilateral variance analysis and Kruskal Wallis when variances were not homogenous, and Tukey test in order to find the source of difference in unilateral variance. Corelation test was used in order to find relation between two variables and regression test was used in order to find the effect of independent variables on the dependent variable. Based on the findings obtained from the study, the mean perception levels of school managers and techers in terms of their organizational commitment and administrative understanding were found to be lower in terms of their organizational commitment, and higher in terms of their internalization. The mean scores of perceived positivist administrational understanding and mean scores of chaotic administrational understanding among school managers and teachers were found to be moderate and similar to each other.Based on gender variable, the positivist and chaotic administrational scores of males were found to be higher than those of the females and the identification, internalization compliance levels of males were higher than those of females. Based on the educational level, those participants in pre-major levels revealed higher scores than those in major or post major levels in terms of their positivist and chaotic administrational scores. These group of participants also revealed higher scors of internalization and identification of organizational commitment compared to majors and those in M.A level.According to the kind of faculties from which the participants of our study graduated, the graduates of the other faculties revealed higher scores of positivist and chaotic administrational understanding than those participants graduated from education or science and literature faculty. Similarly the scores of perceived identification and internalization among those graduated from the other faculties were found to be higher than those of the people graduated from education and science and literature faculties. Based on the variable of the kinds of schools these partcipants worked, those working in secondary schools revealed higher scores of identification in within the context of organizational commitment than those working in kindergarten and primary schools.Bases on the occupational seniority, those managers and teachers who worked more than 16 years revealed higher scores of perceived positivist and chaotic understanding. These groups of participants also revealed higher scores of identification and internalization than the other groups of seniority and experience. Among people who had more than 16 years of seniority and experience in their workplaces, the score of organizational commitment of these people in terms of identification were also found to be higher compared with the other groups of lower level of ocupational experience or seniority, which suggested that identification within the context of organizational commitment increased in relation to seniority. However in the administrative staffs, organizational compliance were vice-versa, which meant that more than 16 years of seniority or managerial experience contributed to the lower level of organizational commitment, whereas the identification and internalization scores of the group of managers were found to be higher than the other managerial seniority or experience. There was a significantly negative corelation between positive and chaotic management understandings and compliance levels as a result of the corelation analysis conducted. However, there was a significantly positive corelation between positive, chaotic managerial understanding and identification as well as internalization. In the regression analysis in order to test the effect of compliance upon positivist and chaotic managerial understanding, the effect was found to be significant upon chaotic understanding and insignificant upon positivist understanding of management, whereas the analysis revealed significantly positive effects upon both positive and chaotic managerial understanding based on identification. This effect was also found to be significant in terms of internalization based on the regression model within the context of organizational commitment.
