Abstract (EN)
In this resarch, it was aimed determine to ability of children to understand and produce similarities that is one one the figurative language types. The participants of the study consisted of 120 children aged 5-6 years in various kindergartens The data were collected by a 26-item achievement test based on expert opinions. There are 16 items in comprehension dimension and 10 items in production dimension in the achievement test.The items in the test were addressed verbally to the participants. The voice recordings of the responses were taken and the analyzes were carried out by evaluating the contents of the records by two experts. The obtained responses were coded and transferred to the statistics program.Descriptive statistics were calculated according to the research questions, and correlation and Mann Whitney U techniques were applied. Findings from the study show that the most commonly understood substance is 56.7% and the most successful substance in the production dimension is 40%. In addition, there was a moderately significant relationship between participations' levels of understanding and producing comprehension, although the ability to understand and produce similes did not differ according to sex, it differs in terms of duration of stay in kindergarten. Participations,going to state school, were more successful than going to private school,and also participations who were 6 years old were more successful than 5 years old. Based on the findings, it is suggested that the results obtained in this study be confirmed by applying on other groups and studies on other types of figurative language.
