Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of music education on the development of Turkish reading skills of students diagnosed with dyslexia. In the study, the action research design was preferred. The criterion sampling method was used in the study; While choosing the sample group, it was aimed to select a student who was studying in the 3-4th grade, diagnosed with dyslexia and interested in music. Accordingly, the sample group consists of a male student studying in the 3rd grade in a primary school in Şırnak city center in the 2021-2022 academic year. In order to determine the effect of music education on reading, a 6- week music education program was applied. This program has been prepared based on the "Multisensory" teaching approach, which is one of the most effective methods used in music education for dyslexics. During the education process, the effect of music on many factors affecting reading, especially phonological awareness in students, was investigated in detail. It is aimed to reveal how and in what ways such music affects reading. The study data were collected before and after the application, "Mistake Analysis Inventory", "Phonological Awareness Scale", "Special Learning Disability Observation Form". As a result of the research, it was concluded that music improves reading level by influencing phonological awareness.
