Abstract (EN)

The semiotic analysis of olympic games posters between the years of 1896 and 2016. İn this process, the visual dynamic in poster design and their roles in communication design along with the contribution of semiotical and cultural codes to the design have primarily been analyzed. The interaction among cultures takes place depending on the subjective structure of communities in the geography composing a culture and on the positive or negative contributions of other cultures with which they are interacting. The most important channel for cultures to be passed down is the language of that culture. İn this study, the composition of graphic elements in the design of olympic games posters and the different comments of the cultures on this composition have been analyzed according to how elements such as design, colour, typography are used in cultures using semiotics. İn conclusion, the term "poster design" and its importance on cultures have been studied in detail. Poster design's association with semiotics and its development and change throughout a period starting from its birth till today are discussed in this study.
