The rate of survival in fish after cought by kirbed hooks in angling

This study was carried out in two fishing areas in the Yumurtalik region from October 2010 to January 2011. The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting the survival rates of the species caught by sport angling. In total 8 species of 3 families were caught, but to get healthy results, the evaluations were carried out on the 3 most caught species. Species on which the assessments are made, Sparus aurata; (160) individuals, Diplodus sargus; (68) individuals, Diplodus vulgaris; (44) individuals. 4, 6 and 8 kirby hooks needles were used in the study. Six factors that would affect the mortality rate on the captured samples were evaluated. These factors were air exposure times, hooks number, hooks position, bleeding, hooks cutting, depth of capture. These 6 variables were evaluated by logistic regression analysis and the significance interval was P< 0.05. Statistically significant factors were determined as; hooks cutting, hooks position, air exposure (P<0.05).
