Özet (EN)

In literature, there is little research focusing on death anxiety. This is because there is a large number of variables that relate to death anxiety. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between death anxiety and two anxiety buffer mechanisms which were attachment styles and relationship status. The sample of the study consisted of 207 university students. In this study, the Thorson-Powell Death Anxiety Scale was used to measure death anxiety levels of the participants, and the Relationship Scale Questionnaire was used to measure their attachment styles. According to the results of the research, a positive correlation was found between the death anxiety scores of the participants and their secure, dismissing, and fearful attachment styles. However, no significant relation was found between the death anxiety scores of the participants and their preoccupied attachment styles. A significant difference was found between death anxiety scores of the participants who were in a relationship and of those who were not. Participants who were in a relationship reported higher death anxiety than those who were not in a relationship.
