Anatolia and Anatolian people in Ömer Bedrettin Uşaklı’s poems

The Anatolian peninsula was made independent as a result of successive great wars collectively referred to as the War of Independence. During this process, the Anatolian people made a name for themselves with their outstanding efforts, leaving their mark on history. The events that transpired on the Anatolian land during this period were also reflected in Turkish literature. Artists turned their eye to Anatolia and its people, including these two significant gems in their works. Anatolia was commonly being described as a “paradise” by most artists, and every bit of Anatolia was brought to attention. As a result of all these circumstances, the concepts of Anatolian land and its people covered in the works of poets were a crucial aspect of Turkish literature. This study is intended to provide a comprehensive coverage of Anatolia and Anatolian People in the poems of Ömer Bedrettin Uşaklı, who is a prominent poet in Republican Period Turkish Poetry. The aim of this study is to analyze from which perspectives Anatolian People are approached and how they are reflected in the poems of Ömer Bedrettin Uşaklı, who is known as the poet of the motherland. The beginning of this study includes information about Anatolia and Anatolian people, the life and literary personality of Ömer Bedrettin Uşaklı. In the first chapter of the study, which consists of four parts, the subject of Turkish poetry in the Republican Period is briefly mentioned. The second chapter includes the orientation towards Anatolia and Anatolian people in Turkish poetry. In the third chapter, the geography, nature, folk songs and legends of Anatolia in the poems of Uşaklı were analyzed by dividing them into sub-titles. In the fourth chapter, Anatolian people in the poems of Uşaklı were examined, again in sub-titles, as regards their heroism, sociocultural structures, passion, hard-work, poverty and lastly with their expatriates.
