Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to provide a comprehensive characterization of carbon black recycled from end-of-life vehicle tires and to investigate its potential in various analytical applications. Firstly, the physical and chemical characterization of carbon black was determined by a detailed study of its surface morphology, particle size and thermal stability. Then, purification process was carried out to separate the obtained carbon black from its impurities. For this purpose, washing was carried out with acetone and hexane. The obtained product was washed with hot sodium hydroxide to remove the remaining oil-like impurities and saponified. The product was then washed with hot water until the wash water was neutralized. It was then treated with nitric acid and reduced with hydrazine to make it ready for use. The adsorption method was taken as a basis in the separation process of dye pollutants (methylene blue) from wastewater and magnetite (Fe3O4), the most useful and common iron-based magnetic nanoparticles, was used. This synthesized composite was used for methylene blue removal from wastewater and successful results were obtained. This information will provide a valuable foundation for improving recycling processes and enabling them to be used more effectively in industrial applications.
