Abstract (EN)
Shoulder pain is among the most common musculoskeletal problems seen in the clinic after low back and neck pain. Shoulder pain causes a decrease in muscle strength and endurance and joint movement limitation. At the same time, it negatively affects both the activities of daily living and the quality of life of individuals. The aim of treating shoulder pain is to improve functional ability, correct biomechanics and regain shoulder function. Kinesio Taping Technique is among the physiotherapy and rehabilitation methods as an effective treatment approach in recent years. It has different application areas in order to prevent tissue injuries in the musculoskeletal system, to treat pain, dysfunctions and to reduce symptoms. PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) technique; It is a technique applied to improve functional movement by facilitating, inhibiting, strengthening and relaxing muscle groups. In our study, kinesio taping was applied to individuals with shoulder pain in addition to PNF 'Hold-Release' technique. The aim of this application was to reduce shoulder pain, increase range of motion, increase muscle strength and to investigate other effects on the rotator cuff muscles. In our study, 60 people with shoulder pain for more than 3 months participated. The participants were randomly divided into two groups, the 1st group received PNF hold-relax technique only 3 times a week, and the 2nd group received kinesio taping technique 2 times a week in addition to PNF hold-relax technique. A total of 18 sessions of PNF and 12 sessions of kinesio taping were performed in our study which lasted for a total of 6 weeks. As a result of our study, it is thought that kinesio taping reduces pain, increases range of motion and has a positive effect on rotator cuff muscles in individuals with shoulder pain.
