Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT As it is known initial stress can occure in construction materials for many reasons. Investigations of the effect of those kind of stresses on wave propagation is very important in theory and application. The studies made in the thesis is about the effect of initial stresses on wave dispersion in medium with prestressed layer. Particularly in this study we deal with the dispersion of the generalized Rayleigh waves on prestressed plane covered with prestressed layer. In the first case, the dispersion of the generalized Rayleigh waves in the half plane, which is made of linear elastic medium and covered with a linear elastic layer has been investigated without any prestress in the layer and half plane. The piecewise homogeneous body model has been used and classical linear elasticity theory has been applied. The results obtained by Tolstoy and Usdin (1953), Achenbach and Epstein (1967), Eringen and Suhubi (1975b) has obtained again and the previous problem was taken into consideration by using complete and incomplete contact conditions. In the second case, by using the piecewise homogeneous body model, the dispersion of the generalized Rayleigh wave in the half plane, which is made of prestressed linear elastic medium and covered with a prestressed linear elastic layer has been investigated under complete and incomplete contact conditions. In the third case, by using the piecewise homogeneous body model, the dispersion of the generalized Rayleigh wave in the half plane, which is made of prestressed non-linear elastic medium and covered with a prestressed non-linear elastic layer has been investigated under complete and incomplete contact conditions. In this case, the effects of the third order elasticity constants, which are given by Mumaghan potentials, on the generalized Rayleigh wave propagation have been investigated. The results obtained comply with certain physical realities. The results for the prestressed cases are obtained firstly.
