Reflections of On'lar Group on contemporary Turkish art education

In this research, it is aimed to determine the reflection of On'lar Group on contemporary Turkish art education according to the opinions of the people who were educated by the artists of On'lar Group. In accordance with this purpose, the former art groups were examined and On'lar Group's formation process, artists, artistic aproachs, development stages and disintegration process were discussed. In addition, the opinions of the people who were educated by the group artists on On'lar Group and the its artists were examined. In this study descriptive research method, one of the types of qualitative research, was used. In this context, in order to establish the theoretical sub-structure of the research, the sources related to the development process of Turkish painting and On'lar Group have been examined and the information obtained is interpreted. The population of the study is the people who were educated by the artists of On'lar Group. The sample of the study is composed of 16 artist / art educator who were educated by the artists of On'lar Group and continue painting today. In order to collect data in the research, semi-structured interview form consisting of five open-ended questions and developed by the researcher was used. Through the interview form, the sample group's opinions on On'lar Group artist they studied, the reflection of their education on their artistic life, the similarity of their own art understanding with group artist's art understanding, the reflection of their education to their own students and the reflection of On'lar Group on Turkish art and art education were taken. In the research, the face-to-face interview technique was used and the interviews were recorded. Data obtained from interview were analyzed by content analysis method. The interview records were decrypted, then the qualitative data obtained were analyzed by inductive data analysis technique and themes and codes were created. Each participant of sample group was given a code from K1 to K16 for definition. "K" means participant, "1-16" means the number of participant. In the calculation of the reliability of the researcher who performs the analysis, the data coding reliability (agreement percentages) of the interviewer was checked. Reliability of the research was calculated 0,87 according to Miles and Huberman's (1994: 64) reliability formula. Obtained findings by data analysis were presented in tables showing frequency and percentage values and direct quotations from sample group's answers were made. As a result of the research, it is seen that the people who were educated by the artists of On'lar Group; were studied by Turan Erol, Mehmet Pesen, Nevin Çokay and Osman Oral; have been reflected their education on their artistic life mostly in terms of form; have been simulated their own artistic understandings with group artist's art understanding in terms of form and content; have been reflected their education to their students mostly in terms of personality traits. It was concluded that On'lar Group has been reflected positively on both Turkish art and art education. Based on the research results, suggestions for researchers, art educators and art students were developed.
