Abstract (EN)

Front trailing arm, parallel to the ground; it is used to fix the tire and wheel joint laterally by connecting to the shock absorber, to the front knuckle and to the subframe. In the automotive industry, reducing the cost and weight of vehicles while maintaining quality is among the main goals. For this purpose, in this study, structural optimization studies will be carried out on the front trailing arm, and numerical analysis will be carried out by designing front trailing arms with different technical specifications. The aim of the thesis is to create a new lower arm model with reduced weight and cost by using the topology optimization method, making changes in the geometry of the lower arm, minimizing the amount of material, and maintaining the strength of the part. Today's analysis programs allow us to use optimization methods, give us an idea about the strength behavior of parts of different designs before physical tests, and provide us optimization opportunities. In this thesis, solid modeling, finite element method, optimization methods will be used. Catia will be used for solid modeling and hypermesh for optimization studies. The aim is to find the most suitable design by providing constraints such as displacement, stress.
