In this master thesis, hydrodynamics of water flow in corrugated pipes with circular cross-section are studied experimentally. The main purpose of this study, is determination of parameters which make head loss maximum at various flow rate and pipe diameter.The thesis consist of five chapters. In the first chapter, the aim of the study and the results to be obtained have been explained generally. In the second chapter, fundamental concepts which are in scope of this thesis and the calculation method have been explained. In the third chapter, studies that are related to the subject in the literature have been reviewed.In the fourth chapter, experimental studies have been explained which have been carried out at Yıldız Technical University of Mechanical Engineering Faculty on Yıldız campus laboratory. Experimental studies consist of two parts. In the first part, three corrugated pipes with various diameter have been employed in pipe flow, pressure loss between inlet-outlet of the system and Darcy friction factor have been found at various flow rates. In the second part, three corrugated pipes with various diameter have been used in open channel flow. Water level elevations at three distinct stations have been meausured and Darcy friction factor have been found for various flow rates and channel slopes.Relations between Darcy friction factor and Reynolds number have been indicated graphically for both pipe flow and open channel flow by using experimental data. According to the experimental results, head losses due to friction have been examined and results are found consistent with previous studies. Pressure loss and flow rate are major parameters for pipe flow and, flow rate, water level elavation and channel slope are major parameters for open channel flow.In the fifth chapter, conclusions and suggestions has been presented according to the obtained results.
