Abstract (EN)

This research was implemented on people who received moral support from the Pastoral Care and Counselling service in the hospital where oneself or patient relatives were diagnosed with cancer. In this sense, views had been examined about how patients make sensation of the illness, after the diagnosis how their thoughts of religious and changing of feelings, the effect of religious and spiritual elements in the process of deal with the disease. In addition to these, it was also investigated about in this process moral support needs and opinions about this service as realize of in hospitals. Through in this research, it is considerate to contribute the moral support programs to be developed for cancer patients and their relatives the data obtained. This research was used qualitative research method and in oncology service, the total of 24 people who took service of pastoral care and counseling have interviewed with 12 of them who were cancer patients and 12 of them who were patients‟ relatives in the University of Health Sciences Samsun Training and Research Hospital. At the end of the research, the participants explained their understanding, interpretation and overcome attitudes of the sickness with dyne and spiritual elements. As a result of the interviews who made by the moral support specialist, it was concluded that the patient and their relatives contribute to their cognitive, social and religious needs in the hospital. Participants have thought that there is a need for service of pastoral care and counseling in hospitals.
