The development of anxiety resources scale of school age children with oncological diseases requiring hospitalization

This study was planned as a methodicall research to develop the scale of anxiety resources of which school age children with oncological when they become ill and hospitalized.The study was performed in Gaziantep Kocatepe Primary School (GKPS) and Gaziantep University Oncology Hospital (GUOH) after taking the allowance written and spoken, between the dates March - September 2007.The sample of study was selected by using simple random sampling technique from GKPS and GUOH. Totally 300 which school age children composed of; 80 healthy children sketchiness scale-test-again for, 30 out-patients, 30 hospitalized patients and 160 healthy children joined the study.As a tool to collect data, the scale of anxiety resources of school age children with oncological diseases when they become ill and hospitalized, and a question name developed by the researcher conscious were used.To assess the data obtained from the study, SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 15.0 program was used for statistical analysis. To assess the investigation data, besides definitive statistical methods (average, standard deviation), Oneway Anova, Tukey HDS test and two group averages of comparatives student t test were used. The questions at the scale developed were classified via factor analysis method. To compare the qualitative data Chi-Square test and Fisher's Exact Chi-Square test were used.Reliability and validity alpha coefficient of ?The scale of anxiety resources of school age children with oncological diseases requiring hospitalization? was evaluated as 0,92. The variance indicated by the factors which take place in the scale was evaluated 52,7 %. The results are at 95% confidence interval and p significance value is <0,05.The findings obtained via investigation revealed that the scale of anxiety resources of the school age children with oncological diseases requiring hospitalization is valid and confidential, so it could be used for such purposes.Keywords: School age, oncological diseases, anxiety, hospitalization, scale.
