Abstract (EN)
This study describes Village Institutes, an education project unique to Turkey, which were established with a law dated 1940, April 17 for purpose of teacher education and ten-year workings of İsmail Hakki Tonguc, one of the founders of the project. Aim of this thesis is to look at these institutes that are founded to educate clever and primary school graduate children as teachers of villages in a time that almost whole Anatolia lacked schools and teachers.
