Abstract (EN)
Detecting cloudiness in the sky is important in agricultural activities, renewable energy sources, industrial establishments, astronomical observations and observations. Within the scope of the thesis, a study was carried out on cloud map for observatories. To date, many methods have been used to determine cloudiness. Today, with the development of camera systems together with the technology, the sky camera has been used in the cloud analysis studies. TUBITAK National Observatory A study on cloudiness analysis was carried out by using the images taken from the fisheye lens camera system installed at Bakırlıtepe Campus. K-means Clustering Method, Otsu Method and RGB Color Space Method were applied on the images and the results were evaluated. Algorithms were determined according to the success rate by using the color space parameters. A hybrid study was formed in two different time periods as day and night. K-means Clustering Method, RGB Color Space Method in very cloudy conditions and Otsu Method in dark nights were considered successful and used in cloudy and bright nights. Application results can be viewed and recorded visually, graphically via the interface created with Matlab GUIDE. In the continuation of the study, it is aimed to establish and use the automatic tracking system for observatories, together with the star traces, by robotic telescopes used in optical observatories and to reduce the data burden. Thus, we aim to reduce the operating costs and increase the speed of producing scientific output for observatories using robotic telescopes.
