Abstract (EN)
Purpose: This study aims to analyze peripapillary and macular vascular density values with OCTA in patients with optic neuropathy. Materials and Methods: Sixty-two eyes of 31 patients with optic neuropathy were evaluated. 46 eyes of 25 patients whose image quality signal strength was 5/10 and above were included in the study. From macular OCTA measurements, the superficial and deep capillary plexus layers were examined separately. Whole-image macular vessel density (WIM-VD), foveal vessel density (F-VD), parafoveal vessel density (PAF-VD), perifoveal vessel density (PER-VD) were evaluated. In the optic disc measurements with OCTA, whole-image peripapillary vessel density (WI-PPVD), peripapillary vessel density (PP-VD), lower half PPVD, (LH-PPVD), upper half PPDY (UH-PPVD), nasal PPDY (N-PPVD) , temporal PPVD (T-PPVD), superior PPVD(S-PPVD), inferior PPVD(I-PPVD), and density measurements and intradisc vascular density (ID-VD) values were analyzed. Results: Between the healthy and sick eyes of the patients; while there was no significant difference in terms of age and spherical equivalents (p: 0.959; p: 0.971, respectively), BCVA was found to be significantly lower with optic neuropathy eyes (p: 0.004). All optic disc vessel density values, except for the ID-VD value, showed a significant difference between the effected eyes and the fellow uneffected eyes, and it was found to below in the effected eyes. There was a statistically significant decrease in WIM-VD and PER-VD values of the SCP layer (p: 0.020; p: 0.022, respectively). While there was a significant decrease in the WIM-VD values of the DCP layer (p: 0.035), the F-VD, PAF-VD and PER-VD values did not differ significantly (p: 0.783; p:0.109, p: 0.059, respectively). Conclusion: OCTA quantitatively demonstrates the reduction in optic disc radial peripapillary capillary and macular vascular dansity in with optic neuropathy eyes compared to fellow uneffected eyes.
