The role of effective leadership in the process of effective team composition with respect to the training in the organization (An application in 4-star and 5-star hotels operating in Ankara, Turkey)

ABSTRACT Active teams are distinguished groups consisting of two or more people working harmoniously in interaction and adaptable to common and estimable object or duty, with certain roles and functions to fulfil and with limited membership period. As for effective leadership, it is defined as "starting an orientation process in the organization due to the changing environmental conditions, awakening respect, reliance and courage, ensuring the adoption of the aim and mission of the organization by influencing individual's beliefs, attitudes and values with the help of personal attributes". This study examines the roles of effective leaders in being active and the establishment of team structures in organizations and how this can be applied to hotel business. The study is composed of four parts. In the first part, the activity term has been explained and information about active teams has been laid down, in the second part, effectivenss and effective leadership and theories about leadership from past to today have been examined. In the third part, effective team leadership and its role in active teams are subject of study, at the same time leader team relation and the role of the leader in team activity have been examined. Finally, in the fourth part, questionnaires applied to 4-star and 5-star hotels in Ankara have been analysed. The data has been analysed by SPSS 10.0 package programme. This study proves that there is a direct realitonship between effective team leadership and team activities and that during in-service trainings in organizations effective leadership plays an important role in the establishment of active teams.
