Organization cuture and work engagement relationship: İnstance of a vocational school

Culture is the shared characteristics of a society, group or organization including everything about human. These characteristics determine the people's perception of their environment. The subgroups in the society such as family, educational institutions and organizations own their subcultures in addition to general culture of the society. Organizational culture constitutes both the identity of the organization and the shared organizational purposes as well. Organizational culture effects the perceptions, attitudes, and the experiences of the employees towards the organization. Work engagement is a positive approach leading the employee towards the values of the organization with the dimensions: vigor, dedication, and absorption. It is crucial to raise the work engagement level of employees. For that reason, it is needed to investigate the work engagement from the cultural point of view and analyze the relationship between those concepts. The future workforce is trained in the universities. The managers in the universities need to strengthen the culture that helps the employees be more effective in their work. The relationship that we assume between organizational culture and work engagement is studied specifically on the employees of a vocational school. vii Through the questionnaires, the organizational culture and work engagement perceptions of the employees working in a vocational school are analyzed. As a result of our analysis there is statistically a positive relationship between organizational culture and work engagement. Because both concepts have a relationship to an extent, to put this relationship in a more reliable way, we analyzed the dimensions and found outthe relationship between the dimentions of the concepts and demographic variables.
