The impact of organizational slack and resource knowledge in organizations on entrepreneurial orientation

Depends on rising competition, the entrepreneurship has become a more important issue to survive the business. The pursuing new entrepreneurial opportunities and embracing the culture of entrepreneurship provide sustainable competitive advantage to business. Adaptation of entrepreneurship attitudes as innovativeness, proactiveness and risk taking to organizational culture is called as entrepreneurial orientation. The purpose of the study is to test whether organizational slack and resource knowledge have any impact on entrepreneurial orientation. The degree of entrepreneurial orientation is measured from annual reports of firms using content analysis. The relationship between organizational slack and resource knowledge with entrepreneurial orientation has been investigated by panel data analysis for the period 2010-2014 over 20 companies listed in the Istanbul Stock Exchange Corporate Governance Index. The results of the study indicate the existence of a statistically significant relationship between resource knowledge, recoverable slack, available slack with entrepreneurial orientation in the businesses. However, the results obtained that there is not any statistically significant relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and potential slack.
