Application of organizational commitment and job satisfaction in a public institution

Abstract (EN)
Today, there are so many factors affecting job satisfaction and organizational commitment in work life. Many factors such as the level of education, age, income level and working time of employees have an impact on both job satisfaction and organizational commitment levels . On the other hand, in literature, there are many studies examining the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The aim of this study is to analyze the interaction of organizational commitment and job satisfaction level of employees working in a government-owned corporation with their demographic characteristics. For this purpose, the measurement of job satisfaction has been discussed in three dimensions as individual satisfaction, organizational satisfaction and administrative satisfaction; and organizational commitment measurement as affective commitment, normative commitment and continuance commitment. In the study, the relationship of these dimensions with each other and their relationship with demographic characteristics have been researched. Literature search related to job satisfaction and organizational commitment has been done, and for the purpose of the study, a questionnaire has been conducted on the employees working in the institution. The questionnaire was carried out on 535 employees of the institution. In accordance with the objectives of the study, model was developed and hypotheses were established. According to the results of the study; job satisfaction and organizational commitment of employees varies depending on their demographic characteristics. When the sub-dimensions of organizational commitment of the company's employees are analyzed, continuance commitment is observed as the highest commitment. It is respectively followed by emotional and normative commitment . For the employees, the highest dimension of job satisfaction is individual satisfaction. It is followed by administrative and organizational job satisfaction. While organizational and administrative job satisfaction are associated with emotional and normative commitment, it is observed that individual job satisfaction is in relation with the three dimensions of the commitment. The study which has been carried out throughout Turkey plays an important as it can serve as model for the other regional studies.
