The effect of organizational stress on motivation of employees

The aim of this study is to determine levels of organizational stress and motivation and examine effect of organizational stress on motivation of employee. At the literature review; stress, individual and organizational stress sources, results of stress, motivation, motivation theories and motivation tools were focused on. At the research review; the questionnaire was applied to engineers? basis on the theoretical knowledge. Survey which was done between 4th October 2010 and 27th March 2012, was applied on 426 engineers who had been member of Union Of Chambers Of Turkish Engineers And Architects. Datas were gathered with questionnaire form, sources of stress scale and sources of motivation inventory. In the survey, 43 factor ?Organizational Stress Factor? scale and 30 factor ?Sources of Motivation Inventory? scale applied to the sample size of 426 people. The conclusions of data analyzes are evaluated within the 95% confidence interval and p<0,05 significance level. When correlation between sources of organizational stress and motivation inventory factors was examined, researcher find out there is positive but low-level correlation between them. When the effect of stress on motivation of employees was examined, researcher find out low level stress is effect motivation positively. Survey results are generally considered that organizational stress factors shows significant statistical differences according to gender, engineering discipline, seniority, reasons for entering the profession, duration at work and vii shifts of work. Another result shows that, sources of motivation inventory shows significant statistical differences according to age, gender, graduate, engineering discipline, seniority and reasons for entering the profession. In the conclusion; finding has been reached low level organizational stress effect on motivation degree positively.
