The effect of organizational stress on employee performance; A research in Azerbaijan five star hotels

Nowadays stress has become a concept which managers deal with as much as they deal with basic management activities. As is known there are many factors creating stress in work life. The belief that employees play an important role in the productivity and success of any business increases the importance of the term organizational stress. In other words, in work life organizational stress is still perceived as an unsolved problem and as an important component that affect the success of the business in a negative way. As in every part of human life organizational stressors affect us in work life with its negavite consequences. However, in work life one of the most important subjects is the effect of stress on performance of employees as employee performance also plays a significant role in business success. Certainly, the reasons behind the decrease in performance of employees can be miscellaneous but this study is just limited to the effects of organizational stress on employee performance. The main aim of this study is to determine organizational stress factors and analyze the perception of employees towards organizational stress and performance relationship in lodging enterprises which are the most important component of tourism industry. In the first part of this study, stress, organizational stress sources, are evaluated. In the second part, concepts related to performance and employee performance, performance evaluation methods and the benefits of performance evaluation are evaluated. The findings of the research revealed the relationship between organizational stress and employee performance and the relationship between demographic characteristics of employees and mentioned subjects in five star hotels in Azerbaijan.
