Image of home in the novels of Orhan Pamuk

Beyond an architectural structure, house is; a sincerity place, which allows people to position their beings in the world, a hearthstone, which prevents breakages in temporal continuity of family lineage, an inmate nest, which perceptually opening and expanding its borders extend to infinity, a place which represents, inside, roots, trust, confidence, and warmth in the dialectic of outside and inside. The purpose of this study, which examines the treatment of home image in the novels of Orhan Pamuk who is one of the most prominent writers of today's literature, is to present that, the house is more than a physical place, it points out to multi-layered world and plays a multi-functional role in the author's novels fiction. In the study, the uses of home image determined individually within Orhan Pamuk's, Cevdet Bey and His Sons, The House of Silence, The White Castle, The Black Book, The New Life, My Name is Red, Snow and Museum of Innocence named novels, and also the place and importance of the home image evaluated in the context of reflections of East-West antagonism, a sense of belonging, perception of space and furniture. As a result of the study, it has been determined that, within the world of Orhan Pamuk's novels, home rather than a spatial background, is one of the central elements of the novel's fiction. Home plays a multi-functional role in the author's novel fiction, that points out as an imaginary within its the multi-layered structure, ranging from creating the novel characters to creating the novels atmosphere; from reflecting on the social and cultural order to making sense of time.
