Comparison of risk analysis of firms operating in theforest products industry (the case of Düzce)

Occupational health and safety is gaining more importance with each passing day, both with the laws and with the increasing employee awareness. Every law and practice enacted on occupational health and safety is made in order to ensure that employees work more safely. Law No. 6331 on Occupational Health and Safety Obliges all businesses operating in both the public and private sectors to work on risk assessment and occupational health and safety. With this study, it was aimed to make a risk assessment by using the L Type Matrix Method in 4 different businesses operating in 4 different sectors in Düzce, and it was aimed to compare the results obtained. The enterprises reached within the scope of the study operate in the fields of furniture, wooden toys, coatings and forest products-lumber. After removing the risks related to Covid-19 in the 4 businesses examined within the scope of the study, 10 risk headings were determined. A total of 2014 risks were determined in these risk categories. It has been determined that 43 of these risks are insignificant risk, 54 are probable risks, 655 are important risks, 1232 are essential risks and 30 are intolerable risks. As a result of the improvements made because of the risk assessment within the scope of the study, it was seen that the 2014 risk was reduced to 1666 risks. It was determined that 30 intolerable risks and 1232 essential risks determined at the beginning of the study were either eliminated or reduced to a less risky situation. It was determined that 655 important risks determined within the scope of the study were reduced to 52 important risks because of necessary regulations.
