Investigation of quality management in forest products industry (the example of Tekirdag, Kirklareli, Edirne)

The purpose of this research is to determine general situations of forest products industries on quality management and, the benefits of applying to quality management for enterprises at Tekirdağ, Kırklareli and Edirne. The survey has conducted on 81 forest products industry enterprises determined at Tekirdağ, Kırklareli and Edirne by face to face meetings and observation on places. The data that are obtained from the surveys had been analyzed in SPPS and evaluated via statistical methods. This particular survey, which aims evaluating the sector, reveals 48,3% of the participated enterprises hold the certificate of Quality Management System/Quality Assurance System. It is observed that 60% of the enterprises in the area are working with full capacity. In addition, one third of the enterprises have at least one engineer employee. As a result of the research, it is determined the enterprises have sufficient certificates about quality controls. Nevertheless; applying the quality management to the enterprises is insufficient and inadequate. It is a well known issue that the reason of this sufficiency is the lack of qualified control employees. Thus, enterprises should care more qualified staff about quality controlling.
