Abstract (EN)

KOMUR, Salim. Design, Control and Power Tracking Study for an Example Solar House, Postgraduate Thesis, Ankara, 2016. The most important three problems that hinder the use of solar energy in independent houses and apartments are high cost, low efficiency and physical incompatability on the roofs of buildings. In this thesis study, methods for each of thees problems mentioned are handled, and applicability of the following methods has been analysed by carrying out the essential design, prototype, control and power tracking procedures within the scope of a project. 1st Method (for reducing Installation Costs): Reducing the inverter costs by using Direct Current. 2nd Method (for increasing efficiency): Increasing the efficiency by using sun tracking system. 3rd Method (physical incompatibility on roofs of buildings): Designing sun tracking system as integrated with the roofs with special designs. In the thesis submitted, prototype of innovative rotating roof system integrated with buildings has been developed with unique design work, and it has been ensured that the PV panels located on the innovative rotating roof system tracks the sun in two axis with the control algorithm developed, and increase in efficiency of electricity generation by %15 in comparison with the roof top PV systems with optimum fixed angle has been measured as a result of the power monitoring process.
