Abstract (EN)

In this study; the effect of barrel parameters on the internal ballistics performance of a medium caliber gun has been investigated. There are many mechanical structures in medium caliber barrels, and studies on the optimization by examining the effects of these structures on barrel ballistic values have been carried out. Firstly, the factors affecting barrel ballistic values have been determined and optimized according to the desired purpose. Due to the large number of medium caliber barrel types and criteria, the optimization space has become very large. Therefore, using the Taguchi experimental design method, the necessary number of experimental designs has been determined. Factors affecting the internal ballistics of medium caliber barrels have been determined, and mathematical modeling has been done to determine the characteristic values of the bullet exiting the barrel with these inputs. Changes in values affecting internal ballistics such as the width, depth, helix angle, and geometry of the rifling in the structure of the barrels have been compared for their effects on the time, linear velocity, and angular velocity of the bullet exiting the barrel. The input values necessary to ensure that the output values meet the predetermined values in the literature have been optimized. The results of the studies have been presented in the form of graphs and tables.
