The effect of secondary education student's assesment of free times on the toward learning

This research was a descriptive study discussing the attitudes of secondary education students studying in Adıyaman province towards free time habits and learning. In the research, quantitative data were collected using the data collection tool of "Attitude Scale Related to Free Time Habits and Learning of Students." The data collected from the secondary education students were reported analyzing according to the personality properties of the students and other variables discussed in the research. During the statistical analyses, the statistical software for Social Sciences (SPSS 21.0) was benefited. The population of this research included students studying at various secondary education schools in Adıyaman province, and the study sample included 478 students chosen with simple random sampling method within this population. A significant difference was determined between Expectation sub-dimension of the attitude scale related to learning and participants' reading books in their free time and the time participants spent on the internet daily. Moreover, a significant difference was also determined between the Nature of Learning sub-dimension of the attitude scale related to learning and participants' going to the cinema or theatre in their free time and the level of grade they studied. A significant difference was found between Feeling Anxious sub-dimension of the attitude scale related to learning and participants' helping their family at home and gender, as well. Furthermore, a significant difference was also noticed between Clarity sub-dimension of the attitude scale related to learning and participants' reading newspapers and magazines in their free time. However, no significant difference was determined between participants' doing sports in their free time and performing any activity they would gain income.
