Ieadership and effective management behaviors of school managers in secendary education

The school principal is the person who is responsible for the administration of the school and its program, the occurence of learning and the success of the school .Therefore the success or the failure of the school is considered as the success or the failure of the principal himself. It is not adequate for a successful school administrator to complete some pre-defined tasks.Moreover some abilities that school administrators must have, can be claimed in this place.One of those abilities is the urge for them to be good school leaders and especially good education leaders.One of the main functions of the school is to make learning come into being for everyone.The school must be a place of learning not only for the students but also for teachers ,parents ,staff and even the community itself. The school administrator is the person who maintains the sources, prepares the medium and and easens the learning and therefore who leads the learning.Although many tasks that a school administrator should complete can be said, the main function of a school is to ?maintain the learning? so most of the school administrator?s time should be spent for education and learning.In this research ?the leadership and administrative behaviors of the school administrators? was studied on.The research is consisted of the introduction ,the problem status,leadership and administration,basic leadership theories ,researches on education leadership ,method,findings and comments,result, arguments and suggestions.In this descriptive research general scanning method was used.The universe of research is consisted of 290 teachers and 69 school principals of the states schools of Büyükçekmece and Avcılar region of İstanbulIn the analysis of the data obtained while the research the SPSS statistics program was used .The data obtained was SPSS analyzed suiting the aims by the frequency(f), percentage(%), artithmetic average(x),standart deviation(ss) tests,perpared by Hallinger in 1982 and was adapted to Turkish language and with the permission of the writer and was analyzed with a 58 itemed scale.The confidentality of the scale was found as Cronbach alpha 0.98.Some suggestions were made on what our school administrators need to have about leadership in order to make our schools more efficient.Keywords: seniors school administrator, education administration.
