Middle class and socio-spatial reflections of financialisation

In today's societies, where Neo-liberalism has shown its influence in all areas, cities are also becoming part of this process. With Neo-liberal globalization, financial transactions have increased and entered into everyday life. This has led individuals to become more closely involved with financial transactions and to increase their use of credit in many areas. The increase in financialization brings with it the formation of a borrowing culture on the one hand, while on the other hand it manifests itself on housing consumption in urban space. Today, housing has become more accessible with increased credit opportunities. Thus, with the assurances given by their salaries, the middle classes can benefit from the housing loan and become the owner of the housing by borrowing for long periods. This process is particularly visible on the positioning of the middle classes who buy housing by borrowing and reveals a number of socio-spatial repercussions.
