Determining the problems that secondary school visual arts teachers have experienced while conducting their lessons due to school administrations

The purpose of this research is to determine the opinions of visual arts teachers who work in secondary education institutions on their issues and solutions to problems caused by school administration. The study group of the research consists of 12 visual arts teachers working in secondary education, 8 in Midyat district of Mardin, 3 in Nusaybin district and 1 in Dargeçit district in the 2021-2022 academic year. The study group was determined by purposive sampling method. Phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. Interview technique was used as data collection method. As a data collection tool, a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher was used. In order to ensure the content validity of the interview form, the opinions of 4 field experts were taken. The interview form consists of 13 questions in total, and each question is designed to learn both the problem and the solution proposal. Content analysis method was used to analyze the data collected at the end of the interviews. In accordance with this method, 2 main themes were determined. Under the first main theme, 3 themes and under these themes 9 categories were determined. Under the second main theme, 6 categories were determined instead of the theme. The research results are grouped under two headings as problems and solutions. According to this, it has been determined that visual arts teachers have problems in many main subjects such as workshops with school administrations, negative attitudes, lack of communication, lesson intervention, curricula, artistic activities, competitions and excursions while conducting their lessons. For these problems, solutions such as providing training to administrators, providing financial support or material support to schools, and asking questions from this course in the university exam were determined.
