Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT POSSIBLE EFFECT OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LEVELS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE Güven AĞCA Amasya University, Institute of Health Sciences Department of Physical Education and Sport, M.A., June / 2019 Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Recep KÜRKÇÜ The concept of quality of life generally refers to the person's emotional reactions and tendency to life formations, their fulfillment of satisfaction with their work and personal relationships. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the effect of physical activity levels of secondary school teachers on their quality of life. For this purpose, a total of 541 teachers working in 36 secondary schools in Tokat province have been surveyed and the possible effect of physical activity levels of teachers on quality of life has been investigated. In addition to a socio-demographic questionnaire consisting of 7 questions, the "International Physical Activity Questionnaire (Short Form) itel, which consists of 7 questions and aims to measure the physical activity levels of the individuals, and the "SF-36 Quality of Life Scale", which consists of 36 questions and aims to measure the quality of life of the individuals have been applied to the participants using the face-to-face interview technique. As a result of the analysis, total mean of MET (Metabolic Equivalent Minutes; week/mins) has been found to be statistically significantly higher in men than in women, in teachers than in administrators, in those with a BMI value described as fat than in normal individuals. As age progresses, it has been determined that scores of Body Pain (BP), Mental Health (MH), Emotional Role Restriction (ER), and vitality/energy (VE) increased in a statistically significant way, and that values of Physical Role Restriction (PR), Mental Health (MH), Emotional Role Restriction (ER) and Vitality/Energy (VE) significantly higher in those with a BMI value of 25-39.99 (fat). Informative seminars and programs should be organized to increase the physical activity levels of teachers (especially of female teachers) and to evaluate their results. Opportunities (place, time etc.) to increase physical activity should be offered; teachers, role models of the new generation, should be encouraged in this respect.
