An application employment of women in managerial position in high schools and the problems faced

In this study, it has been aimed to determine ideas on the problems faced by women in the managerial position in the high schools under the Ministry of National Education.The population of the research consists of those who work in the high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and continue their education in Ankara; Altındağ, Keçiören and Çankaya counties in 2007-2008 academic year. The sampling was made in the research by considering the duration and economical restrictions. 150 persons as principle or vice- principle in the defined schools in these three counties were included in the sampling. A questionnaire was used for taking the opinion of the administrators on the issue. The data gained through the questionnaire were analysed by means of SPSS program and the demographic and Professional information of the persons were revealed in terms of frequency and percentile. Non- pragmatic tests such as Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U were used for the data about the administrators? opinion on women?s taking employment as manager. The level of significance in research has been accepted as 0,05.At the end of the research, it has been determined that;1) Although 51 % of the participants do not think that the prior duty of a women is her responsibilities against her family, 43,8 % of participants support this idea. While 88,4 of the participant think that working of women is a must for strengthening the financial structure of the family, 60% of the same group think that women should make self-sacrifice for making it possible for their husband to make carrier.2) It was researched weather the viewpoints about employment of women in the managerial position show differences in accordance with the factors of sex, profession seniority and marital status, and it was determined that although there were differences between the viewpoints about the sex and professional seniority, there was not any difference about the marital status.3) It has been determined that there is not any difference between the viewpoints regarding weather wifehood and motherhood which originate from womanhood comply with the requirements needed by the managerial position, and that women and men think differently about this issue.4) It has been researched whether a role of the regulation or the differences between the viewpoints has an effect on women?s facing discrimination when they were on the way of promotion to the managerial position, and any difference was not determined regarding this viewpoint between the genders.
