Prediction of the relationships between secondary students' need for social approval, psychological wellness and fear of negative assessment: Example of Gümüşhane city

This research was conducted to predict the relationships between high school students' need for social approval, psychological well-being, and fear of negative evaluation. This research working group; It consists of students who continue their education in official secondary education institutions in Gümüşhane in the 2020-2021 academic year. In the study, as data collection tools: Personal Information Form, Need for Social Approval Scale, Psychological Well-Being Scale, and Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale were applied. T test and One-way ANOVA were used in the analysis of the data obtained in the study. Games-Howell analyzes, Horcberg GT2 and post hoc analyzes according to Levene Test analyzes to find out which groups differ in significant ones. According to the findings obtained in the study, a significant difference was found between the need for social approval and the variables of gender, school type, class level, income level and parental attitude. A significant difference was found between psychological well-being and the variables of gender, income level and parental attitude. No statistically significant difference was found between fear of negative evaluation and demographic variables. In the study, it was determined that the need for social approval was among the predictors of the fear of negative evaluation.
