The investigation of 7 novels which belong to Turkish authors selected from 100 basic works with the advice of Ministery of Education for secondary school students in terms of values education

The aim of this study is to be investigated the national, spiritual, religious, social-cultural and universal values that are expected to be gained in 7 (seven) novels of Turkish writers selected from 100 Basic Works, which have been made secondary education students read with the advice of Ministery of Education since 2004. In this study, document analysis method was used which does not cause the problem of subject and participant reactivity, and which gives the possibility to explain the research problems in detail. In the scope of this study, they were investigated 7 novels selected by criterion sampling method from 100 Basic Works. Through the Turkish authors and their novels, they were studied how often the related values are processed in the novels, and which values are tried to be given in the subcategory. In the analysis of the data, the whole content of the novels was included in the analysis and the content analysis method was used in the analysis of the novels. As a result of the research, the values found mostly in the novels examined are the values of love, benevolence, aesthetics, compassion-sensitivity, sharing-solidarity, respect, honesty-righteousness, labor-diligence and sacrifice. The values found least are fidelity, virtue, chasteness, religious holidays, wisdom, trust, being healthy, williness, peace and scientific values. In the novels studied, it was detected that some values like honesty, hospitality, faith in God, compassion-sensitivity, sharing-solidarity, fairness, labor-diligence, peace, healthy and aesthetic values were mostly included in "İbrahim Efendi Konağı". Patriotism, independence, heroism, unity-solidarity, sacrifice and the values of interests of the motherland and nation firstly were mostly processed in "Esir Şehrin İnsanları". Also, love, tolerance, marriage values are the most in "Tütün Zamanı (Zeliş-1)", and respect, responsibility, civilized-dignity values are the most in "Eskici ve Oğulları". The value of benevolence is the most in "Esir Şehrin İnsanları" and "İbrahim Efendi Konağı". Finally the values of caring for the family and the values of morality were mostly included in "Gençlerle Baş Başa".
