Abstract (EN)
This research, based on teachers' perceptions, is done to examine correlation between Situational Leadership Styles and Educational Leadership Roles of directors; - if there is any- to determine in which areas and what factors are effective on incapability in leadership skills; to define efficient praxis to disperse this incapability and so to contribute for improving quality of educational mediums. In this research, it is examined whether there is statistically significant difference on capability levels in Situational Leadership Styles and Educational Leadership Roles according to gender, age, marital status, field of study, educational level, seniority, working duration in same school and with same director. Descriptive scan model is used in the research. Total field under survey consist of 1518 teachers who works ministerial high schools located in Kartal district of Istanbul. Accordingly scales are applied to 468 teachers in total chosen from that field by random method. To determine managers' Situational Leadership Styles, Situational Leadership Scale evolved by Bass ve Avolio in 1990 is used. Scale is composed of 36 clauses and involves 3 subdimensions as Transformational Leadership, Sustainable Leadership and Unconstrainedness Leadership. Educational Leadership Scale evolved by Sisman in 2004 is used to evaluate managers' educational leadership skills. 50-clause scale has 5 subdimensions as Determination and Contribution of Education Purposes, Managing the Education Programme and Teaching Progress, Evaluation of teaching progress and students, Composing Systematic Teaching and Study enviranment and medium, Supporting and improving the teachers. To analysis the input data, frequency and percent values of demographic features are examined by using SPSS 15.0 Package Programme, aritmetic average and standard deviation of percentage points that taken from scales are calculated. Independent Group T Test is used to determine if any significant difference among Situational Leadership Styles and Educational Leadership scale points due to teacher's gender and marital status; it is specified whether any significant difference due to age, field of study, educational level and working duration with same director by using Kruskal Wallis-H Test Analysis and Mann Whitney-U Test is used to define between which groups there is significant difference; one-way analysis of variance ANOVA is done to determine the significant difference due to seniority and working duration at same school. Pearson Moments Product Analysis is applied to define correlation between total points of all scales, correlation between Situational Leadership Style scale total points and total points taken from subdimensions of Educational Leadership scale and correlation between Educational Leadership scale total points and total points taken from subdimensions of Situational Leadership Style scale. As per research result, gender, age, marital status, field of study, educational level, seniority and working duration are non-effective factors among managers' Situational Leadership Capability subdimensions and Educational Leadership Skills subdimensions. Although working duration at same school is not effective factor on Situational Leadership Skills and its subdimensions, it is effective among Educational Leadership Skills, Determination and Contribution of School Purposes, Managing the Education Programme and Teaching Progress, Evaluation of teaching progress and students. There is positively high correlation between subdimensions of managers' Situational Leadership Skills and Educational Leadership Skills. Also positively high correlation is defined among Transformational Leadership, Sustainable Leadership and Unconstrainedness Leadership skills. Managers' Educational Ledaership skills and Transformational Leadership skills have positively low significant correlation. Subdimensions of managers' Situational Leadership Skills and Educational Leadership Skills have positively medium-level significant correlation.
