In the middle school misconceptions about to determine complex numbers and to maintain the necessary support

With developing technology, the importance of the mathematics gradually. For thisreason mathematics is one of the most necessary lessons at school. In spite of this fact thereare many problems faced while teaching mathematics.The goals of this study are to determine the lack of knowledge and misconceptionsabout complex numbers and to maintain the necessary support to the students who areattending middle school.Firstly, some information is given about general mathematichs; methods andtechniques in teaching mathematics and complex numbers.The search is done with 489 students attending tenth class during the 2005-2006 theeducation period. Five middle schools are selected in Buca for this purpose.The data obtained from the questionnaires that were prepared and applied arecommented with the help of MS Excel, MS Word and SPSS 11.0 programs.Key Words :Complex Numbers, Misconceptions, Education.
