ABSTRACTImproving intelligence is the most important point of education system all over the world.Creativity is not given importance. Some of the characteristics of creativity such as originality and notobeying the rules are not tolerated and they are suppressed. Art education should truly take place ingeneral education in order to be able to get rid of traditional education idea and to be able to haveproblem solving and creative education idea.It is thought that the origin of these problems includes politic, education, economic,environment and personal.However, art education is not in the right place in general education. So art teachers have lotsof problems in art education in schools. One of the most important problems that art teachers have ishaving negative attitude and behaviour towards art education.All of the problems result from art education are almost the same as all over theworld.but,these problems are different from country to country. n turkey, t is known that positiveattitudes about art education is not at desired level now.the problem is to be late for practising andadopting new development in the western countries.It?s thought that these negative attitudes toward art education have not changed from past totoday. All people in society have considered art education to be unnecessary and unimportant. Becauseof this, art education is only thought as free time activity. On the contrary, it?s considered that almostevery individual in society has the same opinion. This is a serious problem. It?s possible to see thisproblem in today?s education system. In our schools nearly everybody such as art teachers, otherbranch teachers, head teachers and parents have wrong attitude towarts art education. It?s also thoughtthat this attitude towards the importance and necessity of art education causes it not to be givenaccording to its aim.It is thought that in our country, art has been considered as a free time activity, fancy anddecorating. Also,students' parents' negative attitutes and precious about art education are effective onthese problems.For this reason, in this research, to see the effect of negative attitude towards the necessity ofart education in secondary school is aimed.The research has been done with eight (8) art teachers, eight (8) headmasters, (95) ninetyfiveother branch teachers and (39) thirtynine parents in (7) seven general secondary schools inAfyonkarahisar in 2004-2005 second term.The input of the research has been determined according to the questionare which has beenasked these art teachers, headmasters, other branch teachers and students? parents.According to the results which are related to the comment on questionare, it has been seen thatboth headmasters, other branch teachers and students? parents do not truly, believe in art education insecondary school.
