Abstract (EN)
In this research, the functioning of the teachers' boards of mathematics and sciences in secondary schools was examined. Within the scope of the research, three sub-problems, namely, "What are the opinions of the teachers about the functioning of the teachers' board?", "What are the interview topics and the decisions taken at the board meetings?" and "What are the consequences of comparing the records of the teachers' board and the opinions of teachers?" were searched and answers were tried to be found to these problems. Among the qualitative research methods, "case study design" was used in the research. The research data were collected through interviews and document reviews from qualitative research techniques. Within the scope of the research, semi-structured interviews were made with a total of 20 teachers including 10 mathematics teachers and 10 science teachers with the permission taken from the Provincial Directorate of National Education and one sample was taken from each of the records of the teachers' board meetings. Research data were analyzed through descriptive analysis and content analysis technique. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with teachers in the first sub-problem of the research. Findings obtained after the analysis of the interviews were separated into four main themes such as "the function of board meetings", "the need for board meetings", "the ideal board of teachers and the situations that prevent the formation of groups", and the "recommendations to increase the effectiveness of schools, meetings and teachers". The main themes are presented in tabular form with sub-themes separated in them. In the direction of the first sub-problem of the research, the interview topics and the decisions taken in the records of the meetings were examined under three headings at the beginning, middle and end of the academic year; the agenda items and the decisions taken are presented in tables. According to the research findings, it has been concluded that the agenda items and decisions, which are not suitable for the current changes and which correspond to the past applications, have been written in the records of the board meetings, and the official documents have been obtained from various places. It has been observed that the board meetings are not held in line with the purpose and as formally required. It has been concluded that the various factors prevent teachers from becoming a board, teachers are directed to boards in the social media, and teachers actually need to be form a board. It has been observed that there is not much emphasis on "analyzing the school's environment possibilities", but teachers mostly focus on "arranging lesson plans", "teaching methods, techniques," and "assessment and evaluation" in the meetings of teachers' board. Suggestions were made in line with the results obtained at the end of the research.
