A model proposal for accompanying school songs from Turkish Folk Music in secondary school music lesson books based on modern harmony

This is a research that reaches information on the determination of the techniques and methods to be determined and followed in the accompaniment of school songs from Turkish Folk Music in middle school music textbooks with piano according to the rules of Modern Harmony. Accompaniment models have been developed for the works in different maqams in the research. While developing these models, books, sciences and researches were examined using the documentary scanning method, and the chord structures and installations in the works of world-renowned jazz musicians were taken into account. In the framework of the collected data, the methods to be used in accompaniment of Turkish Folk Music-based school songs in secondary school music textbooks using jazz and modern harmony were determined, and as examples, works from different maqams in the textbooks were selected and sample accompaniments were made to these works, while chord setups and harmonic structures were explained in a way to support theoretical knowledge , how to expand the chord degrees in different maqams, and within the framework of which rules the degrees used are chosen are explained. According to the results of the research, it was seen that the usability of modern harmony in Turkish Folk Music work accompaniments in Secondary School Music Textbooks, and more complex chord structures such as 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th and more complex chord structures are compatible with Turkish Folk Music melodies. At the end of the research, it was suggested that the modern harmony structure should be used more in Turkish Folk Music accompaniments and that the modern harmony structure should be included more in the Music Teaching Department Programs.
